Alia is a peaceful and flourishing village set in the western part of the Madonie Mountains in the heart of feudal Sicily, where the provinces of Palermo, Agrigento and Caltanissetta are connected. We are located near (8 km) the Natural Reserve of Bosco della Favara & Bosco Granza. The woodlands of the reserve are dominated by the Cork oak growing together with the Downy oak, the Manna Ash, and the Ilex tree. The shrubby vegetation of the undergrowth is very rich and is characterized by the typical species of the Sicilian wood, like the Blackthorn, the Hawthorn, the Crab Apple, the Wild Asparagus, the Butcher’s Broom, the Almond-shaped Pear, or bushes with the very rich flowers of the Hairybroom, a plant similar to the Broom. The meadows of the undergrowth are full of colors: among the flowers there are the Hardy Cyclamen and the Sand Crocus. It is home to a rich fauna including the fox, the marten, reptiles, amphibians and birds.
